using the reference image you can see the gable shaped pergola can you place a similar one over the grass area the pergola should be at the same angle as the exsisting roof angles in the photo and the pergola wont need any posts just brackets connected the soffits of the building on the left and building on the right in the second photo for reference you can see the bracket attached to the soffit it is an l shaped bracket and hold the pergola above the existing gutters of the buildings so the pergola roof can drain into the existing gutters
