a national centre for creative handcraft in oman the building is 5 stories and 14 000 sm its style should reference traditional omani public building style typical of muscat influenced by sustainability its material palette should be derived from local materials such as red clay palm local wood the lower floor should be very open with lots of glass and gardens the roofs are flat with lower portions being occupiable the building should feature middle eastern screens and folded planes the build will function as a centre to honor handcraft with education community events crafts markets and cultural preservation the color scheme should use accent silver metals clay palm weaving and pierced clay screens the centre is surrounded by a thriving community with a 4 lane road to the right and pedestrian only way to the left the boulevard crosses an intersection at the back right corner of the building the gardens and market spill into the pedestrian areas inviting people in the building has a large outdoor area open to the sky and shaded by the taller parts of the centre the 5 story portion is at the back corner and the building terraces down at the front corner architecture
